A separate service with a separate job
FeedHush does not integrate with Qustodio, read its rules or configure it for you. Check the provider’s current supported operating systems, features and subscription requirements before choosing a tool. We have not verified a complete FeedHush and Qustodio setup on a child’s Windows PC or Mac.
Set app rules as well as website rules
Qustodio documents app controls for Windows and Mac. Its Games & Apps feature starts disabled; new apps appear after use. In the child’s profile, open Rules → Games & Apps, enable the feature and review category rules and app exceptions. Test restrictions for each alternate browser. A successful website block is not evidence that an app is blocked.
Keep its parent access and removal credentials under the parent’s control. Recheck after new apps or browsers are introduced.
Understand what the web filter permits
Qustodio lists Chrome, Firefox and Edge for Windows web filtering, and Chrome, Safari and Firefox for Mac. It says unsupported browsers are blocked by default. That does not mean every browser other than Chrome is blocked: several alternatives are supported.
A website rule applies to a site, not to FeedHush’s feed elements. A global block may stop the site in your approved browser too. An allow rule can leave it reachable in another permitted browser. Qustodio’s “Ignore” option bypasses its filtering; do not use it as a shortcut to make this setup appear to work.
Check compatibility before relying on it
- Set up the vendor’s protection and parent credentials first.
- Test a harmless blocked website and a blocked alternate-browser app from the child’s account.
- Confirm an allowed site still loads in the approved browser.
- When FeedHush filtering is available, test the actual feed controls and parent settings independently.
- Restart, retest, and record versions and any exceptions.
If protection conflicts, stop and identify which layer is responsible. Do not turn off all filtering or share administrator access to resolve a single site. See troubleshooting.
